This should be considered a collectable, and not relied upon to provide chemical protection, however the bag remains sealed. This packet is in new unused condition.
The M8 chemical agent paper is used to detect the presence of liquid VGH chemical agents. There are three sensitive indicator dyes suspended in the paper matrix. When a sheet is brought into contact with liquid nerve or blister agents, the react with chemicals in the paper to produce agent-specific color changes. There is a color chart inside the front cover of the booklet to compare to contact results to determine the type of agent. The V-type nerve agent turns M8 paper dark green, the G-type nerve agent turns it yellow. H-blister agent will turn the M8 paper red in color. The M8 paper is issued in a book of 25 chemically treated dyed impregnated sheets. The seems are perforated for easy removal. The book is heat-sealed in a polyethylene envelope. Detach a sheet and attach it to clothing or place it on a surface so it can be exposed to drops of liquid. If colored spots appear, a chemical agent is present.
