It attaches to both the frame and the bottom of the main cargo compartment (attaches in both places for stability). Designed to hold the military sleeping bag/Gore-Tex bivy sack system,,,or any other materials, clothing,, or sleeping bags, etc. Also has an ID pocket on the exterior of your bag. Sleep system carrier
Very useful sleep system carrier that attaches, after a lil work, to my large Alice ruck for my sleep gear. Had quite a surplus smell and minor wear, however very much serviceable.
