Government issue, fit beneath the US military canteen and canteen cup, use stand when heating water and meals, 1st generation canteen cup stove for the U.S. military canteen cup. Aluminum and dated 1991. Old style shaped a little different than the current issue. new!
Had this thing issued to me and never unwrapped it before I turned it in. Just received this one for nostalgic purpose and decided to give it a go. Works great with fuel tabs but natural tender not so much. I believe it was only intended for fuel tabs anyway. Cool little piece of gear.

Only used real Esbit which burns hotter than trioxane. The design doesn't seem to have enough venting so it smokes and burns slower than it could. It's too small to nest my old WW2 and newer wing handle USGI canteen cups. I modified it by tearing open a vent on side and sit a titanium wire grill on top. This allows more chimney venting so it boils water faster. Can also put sticks in with Esbit for a bigger flame. I like surplus from this era.
Works with fuel tabs only , cup sits inside stove resting on wing handles to cook . only use 1/3 ,or, 1/2 fuel tablet to boil . good for areas without available wood
