Not "like new," but not bad.
There's a large black square spray painted on one side. It looks like it's to cover personal ID info which was stenciled on, which is apparently a fairly common practice in the military. Also, one of the backpack straps where it connects to the bag has some busted thread which will have to be repaired before I can use it. This looks like a design issue with the way the straps are connected to the bag. I'll be keeping it, but mine was certainly not in "like new" condition as some of the other reviews said. I'd say more like good condition, as described.
