Mukluks
I've been using USAF issue mukluks since 1982 on three different continents, including Alaska, Utah, PA, MD, NY, Alberta, Great Britain, Germany and Argentina. They've always kept my feet warm and dry and every pair has lasted four or more years with a lot of walking. The soles tend to remain non-slip even in icy conditions. The only complaint I have is that the issue, cream-colored, all-wool socks wear-out way too fast. With the mukluk and bootie/liner, a single pair of cheap gym socks is good enough. After several years the rubber will start to separate from the canvas, usually at the back of the heel. This can be repaired with shoe-goo but it's a sign to start looking for a new pair. The bootie/liners will shrink, which can make donning the liners difficult, so never put them in the dryer. The booties also don't smell great, but not terrible, just that typical military-issue clothing smell. I have worn these in rain but never in exceedingly wet conditions (wading through icy, ankle-deep water), where I tend to use Wellington boots. I keep a pair in the back of every vehicle for emergencies October to April. If you're going to be walking around in foot-deep snow all day, mukluks are what you want.
