I had trouble installing this. Turns out the connector was 120° out to line up properly with the plug on the phone. I removed the locking tab and was able to get it lined up. It functions perfectly even though it doesn't lock. It's not going anywhere. That may be why these were surpluses to begin with.
New old stock, worked perfect for my TA 312 field phone. Battery it takes is available on Amazon. I use it with a cell 2 jack to make phone calls to impress my friends with the spare time I have to fiddle around.

Had a couple of surplus TA-312 field phones for many years, and until recently... I didn't know this existed. Purchased two of them, and both arrived still in the original packaging - and with consecutive serial numbers. This place had them at the lowest price that I could find, and even better - the store is only a few hours drive for me. Shipped fast, and great stuff! Definitely will have to check this place out sometime.
This is the second one of these I've purchased, and they are NEW (old-stock), still in the sealed government packaging. Works perfectly on my TA-312 field phones for making phone calls on the telephone system or through my SB-22 switchboard. Plus, you can't find them anywhere cheaper than ASW!

As advertised, very satisfied! Takes a 6V alkaline Duracell "J" available at Amazon. (may require AUTOVON telephone line for full functionality)
Got these to work with my TA-312 phone. Was able to hook the phone up to a house phone jack and dial a call. Worked great! Only note of caution. Nowhere does it say you need batteries (6v) to make this work. The type of battery needed is a "Type J" cell (medical device). Also known as 7K67, 4LR6, 539. Not many places had that type of battery in stock. If you are planning to use it when you open the package, you'll need to have those batteries on hand or make a 6v adapter.
